After Edward I chartered this town late in the thirteenth century it became an important port. Wenceslaus Hollar’s plan-view of the city is one of the rarest of English town plans. Our facsimile is from an original in the Boston Public Library and enlarged one-tenth to bring out the details of Hollar’s craftsmanship.
