Biltmore Estate, North Carolina 1896 – Souvenir Series

$16.00

The landscape architectural firm of Olmsted, Olmsted and Eliot prepared this guide map of the 8600 acre property owned by George Vanderbilt on the outskirts of Asheville, North Carolina. The French Chateau-inspired house, with 250 rooms, a pool and bowling alley in the basement, was designed by Richard Morris Hunt and had just been completed when the Olmsted firm received the commission to design the grounds. The landscape plan included the house, gardens, parkland, farms and forests.
